Located on the Eastern face of the Malvern Hills, St Wulstan’s is a large Gothic Grade II listed church, which was built in 1862 and is surrounded with stunning views overlooking the Worcestershire countryside. Few alterations have taken place since it was built, although in the mid 1990’s, the building was in poor condition and substantial renovation works were taken place on the roof covering, repairs to the exterior and restoration and redecoration of the interior, including the baptistry. The composer Sir Edward Elgar was buried in the cemetery in 1934, alongside his wife and other members of his family.
The lighting within the church consisted mainly of large tungsten spot lights, many of which were beginning to fail. Lighting levels were poor and maintaining the existing lighting was becoming a constant task. We replaced all wiring and installed new DALI controlled LED projector spots giving a greater level of light throughout the church. Additional LED strip lighting was installed beneath the gallery and feature lighting added to illuminate important features, including the roof. New dimmable LED spot lights were also installed within the baptistry.
