St Paul’s stands at the very heart of the County Town of Bedford and serves both as a Parish Church and as the Civic and County Church of Bedfordshire. The church had suffered from poor levels of illumination and rewiring was very overdue. We worked with lighting designer Anthony Easterbrook from Bromley, Kent who was contracted to work with the fabric committee to regenerate the feel and ambiance within the main body of the church.
All lighting within the Nave, Chancel, Trinity Chapel and many of the ancillary areas of the church were rewired and new luminaires installed as necessary. The pendant fitments that hang in the Nave arches and over the choir stalls in the Chancel we rewired and all metal work powered coated and re-gilded. The Nave pendants had spot light fixtures installed to highlight the angel figures in the
Nave roof with a narrow beam dichroic lamp. The control of the lighting was via a Helvar scene setting, leading edge thyristor dimmer packs.
