Saint Andrew’s Church in Great Finborough contacted us to enquire about illuminating the 300ft spire from each corner of the tower. A high powered LED architectural flood light was proposed and a lighting trial took place in the hours of darkness to view it’s suitability for this project. Following a successful lighting trial, a proposal was provided by us, outlining the details of the project. New SWA cabling was trenched from the church to the perimeter wall, where it was then clipped out of view to each of the 4 floodlight positions. Concrete bases were installed and the floodlights mounted and positioned to most optimal location to illuminate the spire evenly. Inside, an NFC enabled astronomical timeclock was installed which can operate the lights at sunset until sunrise, or between chosen times. This can be programmed through the in-built display or using an app on a mobile phone, making programming a simple task.

As part of the St. Andrew’s “Beacon of hope” funding project, people are welcomed to request the spire to be illuminated for special personal events, with a voluntary donation being made to fund their heating project.
