Cromer Parish Church (St. Peter & St. Paul) is a Grade I listed building that is located in the heart of the North Norfolk coastline. It’s prominent position within the town centre enables its 160ft tower to be seen from any position as you enter the town and from the pier and coastline. With the exterior light fittings beginning to fail and with spares and replacement parts hard to find, only 2 of the 8 that illuminate the tower were operational.
We were asked to provide some ideas on what we could do to update the existing lighting. We proposed to install 8 new luminaries around the perimeter of the tower, replacing the existing 250w Metal-Halide floodlights for more eco-friendly 130W LED floodlights. With different beam angles being used, we could illuminate the entire tower with ease. Each fitting has a 3000k warm white output and is rated to last in excess of 50,000 hours. Existing SWA cabling was reused as this was in good condition and full NICEIC certification issued on completion.
In addition, we replaced the 2 mechanical time clocks that controlled the lighting for 1 digital unit, that operates the lighting automatically at sunset until a desired time and requires no changes to be made during the year.
